Central Ohio stands at a crossroads. Our population is expected to double by 2050. Sadly, our poverty rates may increase as well. Many know how critical it is that we begin to offer true economic mobility to everyone in our community. Franklin County has created a blueprint to alleviate poverty, Columbus 2020 and The Columbus Partnership also are recognizing the need for their leadership in this area.
The question becomes: What Works? What effective tools and initiatives truly help people move up the economic ladder and leave poverty as a memory in the rear view mirror? Your Columbus Urban League, as an authentic, effective force, will use Empowerment Day 2019 to spotlight successes and opportunities to become a community where everyone can succeed.
